A Segment is a part of a Form that can be saved in Docomotion, under a unique name, and integrated, during the design stage, into a Form.
Segments can be linked or regular (unlinked). Regular segments can be edited in the Form as any other text you add. Linked segments cannot be edited and can only be changed by editing the Segment Form.
The Segment must be based on the same Main Object and on the same Word template as the Form.
Segments greatly reduce design time and the need to design from scratch standard portions of Forms found within the Form system.
Segments can be created in Docomotion as well as initiated in the Designer and stored in Docomotion. Once a Segment is published it is available to all Forms based on the same Main Object.
Segments can be viewed in the Docomotion Forms tab with the special icon . In the Forms tab you can also open the Segment for editing.
When you add a Segment to a Form, you can add it as:
Linked: Any changes to the Segment, once published, are automatically reflected in the Form and in any future output generated from the Form.
Unlinked: Changes in the Segment do not affect Form or the generated output (equivalent to “Copy – Paste” of all Segment content).
It is not recommended to add more than 5 segments to a Form.
